The Northern Junior Championship is a nationally ranked junior golf tournament that was created in order to provide the highest level of competition for top junior players. The 36-hole stroke play event is contested over two days at Great River Golf Club in Milford, Connecticut and is open to amateur boys and girls under the age of 19 who have not entered their first year of college. Our goal is to provide the same first class championship experience and red-carpet treatment that the best national events around the country offer.

Format: All players will play 18-holes of stroke play on Tuesday, July 28th and Wednesday, July 29th at Great River Golf Club. Starting times will be from 7:00am to 1:00pm both days. There will be an awards ceremony and trophy presentation following the conclusion of play on Wednesday at approximately 6:15pm.

Divisions and Eligibility: There will be a Boys and Girls Championship Division, which is open to any male or female junior golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday on or before July 29th, 2020. All players must be an amateur golfer as defined by the USGA, and must not have entered their first year of college.

Tournament Entry Fee– Entry Fee includes complimentary practice round, two rounds of tournament play, players lunch both tournament days, tournament towel, player gifts and invitation to Players Dinner on Monday, July 27th.

AJGA Performance Based Entry: The 2019 Boys Champion will receive eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars, the top five (5) finishers in the Boys Championship will receive four (4) AJGA Performance Stars, and the top ten (10) finishers in the Boys Championship will receive one (1) AJGA Performance Star.

The 2019 Girls Champion will receive eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars, the top three (3) finishes in the Girls Championship will receive four (4) AJGA Performance Stars, and the top five (5) finishers in the Girls Championship will receive one (1) AJGA Performance Star.

Tournament Invitations: The 2020 Boys Champion and Runner-Up will receive invitations to the 2021 International Junior Masters and 2021 Barbasol Junior Championship. The 2020 Boys Champion will receive an invite to the 2021 Northern Amateur and 2021 Southern Junior.

The 2020 Girls Champion will receive an invitation to the 2021 North & South Junior.

The Top 3 finishers in the Boys and Girls Championship will earn invitations to the IMG Junior World Championship -Florida Challenge.

Prizes: Top finishers in the Boys and Girls Championship prizes in the form of merchandise credit redeemable at Great River Golf Club.

ELIGIBILITY: Entry is open to any male or female amateur golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday on or before July 29th, 2020. All players must be an amateur golfer as defined by the USGA, and must not have entered their first year of college.

Players may gain entry into the 2020 Northern Junior Championship by one of the following ways:

1) By Meeting Entry Criteria and Completing Tournament Application

The first 65 Boys and 28 Girls applying by Sunday, June 28th who meet a category will be accepted. Should spots be available after June 28th, selections will be made on a weekly basis to applicants meeting a criteria until the field is complete.

International players or players with an exceptional playing resume who do not meet the listed criteria may request an At-Large invitation by completing an application form.


2) By Earning Spot through Local Qualifier

Two local qualifiers for the 2020 Northern Junior Championship will be held (dates/sites TBA). Both qualifiers are open to the first 84 applicants. All applicants will be accepted on a strictly first-come, first-serve basis.
