The Northern Junior Championship is a nationally ranked junior golf tournament that was created in order to provide the highest level of competition for top junior players. The 36-hole stroke play event is contested over two days at New Haven Country Club in Hamden, Connecticut and is open to amateur boys and girls under the age of 19 who have not entered their first year of college. Our goal is to provide the same first class championship experience and red-carpet treatment that the best national events around the country offer.

Format: All players will play 18-holes of stroke play on Tuesday, August 6th and Wednesday, August 7th at New Haven Country Club. Starting times will be from 7:00am to 1:00pm both days. There will be an awards ceremony and trophy presentation following the conclusion of play on Wednesday at approximately 5:30pm.

Divisions and Eligibility: There will be a Boys and Girls Championship Division, which is open to any male or female junior golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday on or before August 6th, 2019. All players must be an amateur golfer as defined by the USGA, and must not have entered their first year of college.

Tournament Entry Fee– Entry Fee includes complimentary practice round, two rounds of tournament play, players lunch both tournament days, tournament towel, player gifts and invitation to Players Dinner on Monday, August 5th.

Championship Schedule:

Friday, July 5th– Application deadline (All applications must be received by this date), Tournament field announced and players notified of their acceptance status.

Open Qualifier – Tuesday, July 9th at Agawam Hunt Club (Rumford, Rhode Island)

Open Qualifier – Thursday, July 25th at Whitney Farms Golf Course (Monroe, Conn.)

Monday, August 5th– Official practice rounds, followed by Players Welcome Reception & Dinner

Tuesday, August 6th– First round tee times 7:00am – 1:00pm off the 1st tee

Wednesday, August 7th– Final round tee times 7:00am – 1:00pm off the 1st tee (Leaders off last). Awards ceremony and trophy presentation immediately following play at approximately 5:00pm.

AJGA Performance Based Entry: The 2019 Boys Champion will receive eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars, the top five (5) finishers in the Boys Championship will receive four (4) AJGA Performance Stars, and the top ten (10) finishers in the Boys Championship will receive one (1) AJGA Performance Star.

The 2019 Girls Champion will receive eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars, the top three (3) finishes in the Girls Championship will receive four (4) AJGA Performance Stars, and the top five (5) finishers in the Girls Championship will receive one (1) AJGA Performance Star.

Tournament Invitations: The 2019 Boys Champion and Runner-Up will receive invitations to the 2020 International Junior Masters and 2020 Barbasol Junior Championship. The 2019 Boys Champion will receive an invite to the 2020 Northern Amateur, 2020 Southern Junior and 2019 Bobby Chapman Junior.

The 2019 Girls Champion will receive an invitation to the 2020 North & South Junior. The 2019 Girls Champion and Runner-Up will receive an invitation to the 2020 Liberty National Junior Invitational.

The Top 3 finishers in the Boys and Girls Championship will earn invitations to the IMG Junior World Championship -Florida Challenge.

Prizes: Top finishers in the Boys and Girls Championship prizes in the form of merchandise credit redeemable at the New Haven Country Club Shop.
