Volunteer at the 2019 Northern Junior Championship

  • New Haven Country Club in Hamden, Connecticut will be hosting the 18th Northern Junior Championship on Tuesday-Wednesday, August 6th - 7th. The championship will feature 117 of the top junior golfers from 25 different states and countries, and we are actively seeking volunteers to help make the experience a special one for the players and their families.

Below are descriptions of the different positions that you can become involved with as a volunteer.

Volunteers are stationed on the golf course. They collect hole-by-hole scores from each group and post the scores to a handheld device, which is transmitted to leaderboards and the tournament website.

    Driving Range
Volunteers will assist with players on the driving range and place the nameplate with their name behind their hitting area.

    Marshals & Ball Spotters
Marshals will be assigned to various holes on the golf course. They will assist with ball spotting in the rough and assist players, parents, and officials in enjoying the championship.

    Walking Scorer
Walking scorers are responsible for keeping hole-by-hole scores using an electronic device for one of the leading groups during the final round.

    Standard Bearers
Volunteers will be responsible for walking with a designated group of players and posting their scores on a standard. Each standard resembles a small scoreboard and provides the event spectators with current information on how the players are scoring in relation to par for the entire tournament.
